The Houston SaberCats signed Gideon Van Wyk for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 20-year-old number 8 and flanker is 6’3′ and 227 lbs.Gideon is from Lichtenberg, North-West, South Africa. He attended Menlopark High sChool from 2015-2017 and then Paarl Boys High school from 2017-2019 where he played rugby at No.8.He has represented South Africa Under-18s and the South Africa School in 2019. In 2020 and 2021 he played for the University of Free State. He also played for the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup Premier Division and was part of the wider Toyota Cheetahs team.
