A founding member of MLR, the San Diego Legion has been a perennial Western Conference contender since its first season in 2018. The Legion won the 2023 Western Conference Title against Seattle, 32-10, and also claimed a 2019 semifinal match against Rugby United New York. The franchise finished as the MLR Championship runner-up in 2019 and 2023.

San Diego has finished first-place regular-season finishes on three occasions, including a 15-1, 74-point regular season record in 2023. The Legion plays its home matches at Torero Stadium, a 6,000-seat stadium located on the University of San Diego’s campus.
